Operations and Program Assistant

D.C. Tenants’ Rights Center  | Washington DC

About Job

The D.C. Tenants’ Rights Center seeks a part-time or full-time Operations & Program Assistant to join our “low bono” law practice. DCTRC is not a typical law firm: we are constantly trying to find ways to reduce our fees while providing efficient, useful services to D.C. tenants. We’re the only private firm in D.C. that works exclusively with tenants. We represent tenants in court, but we also advise tenants on how to avoid court. Typical issues include housing code violations, failure to return security deposits, lease terminations, evictions, and illegal rent increases. We also help tenants facing housing discrimination, and we assist tenant associations asserting their building-purchase rights.

Salary and Benefits: Starting at $45,000 (for full time); more based on experience. We also offer health insurance and generous paid time off.

Company Culture: We are a group of attorneys and a Program Assistant who try to have effective and compassionate relationships with our clients. The Assistant plays an important role on our team, and there are opportunities to expand the scope of work based on the interests of the person who fills this role. Our firm is devoted to providing a healthy work/life balance. Our team is currently working a hybrid office & remote schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
