Councilor-elect Worrell’s office is seeking to hire a Policy Director to lead the crafting of policy and legislation, coordinating all activities happening on the City Council committees he chairs, playing an integral role in the Councilor’s oversight of the annual City budget, and managing all office activities related to weekly City Council meetings

The Policy Director will be an integral member of Team Worrell, as the primary support on legislative affairs. They will work closely with the Councilor and other members of Team Worrell and will report to the Chief of Staff. This is a FULL TIME, at-will position.

Job responsibilities may include:

● Research and develop legislative agenda and actions, track relevant State legislation;

● Aid in the execution of all policy agenda goals;

● Attend weekly staff meetings and policy meetings, and brief staff on policy positions;

● Draft and submit legislative documents to go before the Council;

● Plan legislative hearings and issue-oriented community meetings for the committees chaired by Councilor-elect Worrell;

● Meet with advocates on various City issues;

● Attend community civic association meetings;

● Handle constituent services cases (as needed);

● Maintain policy research folders and prepare policy issue briefings;

● Maintain policy partner issue-specific contact lists;

● Staff the Councilor at various district events;

● Track trends in lobbying and advocacy outreach to the office;

● Contribute to policy-related projects for interns (as needed).

Salary commensurate upon experience.
