FSU Libraries Special Collections & Archives is hiring a Research Services & Outreach Coordinator. We seek applications from people wanting to gain experience in Special Collections & Archives implementing inclusive service models, responding to research and reference requests, and connecting communities to primary source materials.

The Special Collections & Archives Division of the Florida State University Libraries advances research by acquiring, preserving, and providing access to rare and unusual books, original primary source materials, and University historical records. The division includes the Special Collections & Archives Research Center, Heritage & University Archives, The Claude Pepper Library, the Digital Library Center, and the Sunshine State Digital Network.

Responsibilities

Manages the remote reference request using the RT Ticket System and scheduling for SCA spaces and services. Coordinates Research and Outreach calendars and communication tools: the desk schedules for the SCA Research Center and Pepper Library, and the instruction, tours, and appointments calendars.

Coordinates all reference services by responding to reference requests, in person and remotely. Serves in the SCA Reading Room(s); supports researcher digitization requests related to reference requests; ensures that the different handling and security needs of diverse materials are met. Understands and adheres to institutional policies and procedures on access, duplication, and reproduction of diverse materials.

Leads development and maintenance of procedure documentation in the SCA wiki. Tracks research, learning, and outreach metrics and statistics – managing statistical tools, creating reports, and gathering and submitting statistics to relevant committees and reporting groups. Assists with the development and maintenance of public services workflows and policies that provide access to SCA materials.

Hire, train, and supervise part-time research & outreach staff, including coordination of desk attendant schedules, walk-in hours, and appointments.

Monitors and updates learning objects and discovery tools, including Learning Management System modules, research guides, and inventories. Collaborates with division, library, and departmental partners on SCA Instruction sessions.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to train and supervise employees.

Valid Florida Driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of the policies and practices of library services.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of collections management to include proper handling, installation, preservation and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.

Anticipated Salary Range

Annual starting salary $35,705; commensurate with education and experience.
