About Job
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Grant Writer will assist project’s leadership, grant writing consultant, and grant writing partners in identifying grant opportunities, organizing Children’s Cause OC grant proposals, preparing proposal outlines, assist with completing grant proposal narratives, and provide support for completing proposal supporting documentation.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Grant Writing Support
Assist with grant opportunity research
Organize CCOC grant development process including updating the CCOC Salesforce NPSP tracking system, facilitating document management, and maintaining proposal development work plans
Assist in outlining and writing grant proposal narratives
Maintain and compile supporting documentation for grant proposals
Prepare CCOC grant planning updates for OneOC
Research and Reporting
Assist with data collection and analysis needed for proposal development including working in coordination with Policy Research Assistants, CCOC leadership, and CCOC partners as needed
Conducts collection of literature on various topics needed for proposals
Conducts research interviews as needed for proposals
Assist with grant reporting as needed
Assist other writers with written grant deliverables as needed
Representing Children’s Cause OC in Collaborative Grant Writing Meetings
Represents Children’s Cause OC and creates a strong visible presence and awareness in collaborative.
Assists in the preparation of presentations.
Administrative And Other Responsibilities
Completes time sheets and other administrative documentation related to the position on a timely basis
Available to participate in weekly supervision sessions with the Executive Director
Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures
Ensures all requirements for confidentiality are met by members of the organization.
Ensures effective and courteous communication with all contacts – internal and external. Works well with group of diverse people.
Supports the vision and goals of the fiscal project and OneOC.
Additional Responsibilities
Completes other duties as assigned.
Education And/Or Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Participation in a master’s degree program preferred.
Demonstrated experience in writing similar to, or the same as, writing grant proposals
Affinity for, and experience with, policy issues related to mental health services, racial and cultural disparities, and social determinants of health preferred.
Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills Required.
Must show a passion for the Children Cause OC’s mission and must be committed to the achievement of its key strategic initiative objectives.
Computer & Equipment Skills
Has good general knowledge of computer operations; uses a keyboard and calculator proficiently and with a high degree of accuracy.
Uses Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint proficiently.
Advanced level knowledge of MS Word functionality and Adobe Professional preferred
Is proficient with various forms of social media.
Uses typical office equipment (e.g., copier).
